Bluebird Tea Co. Advent Calendar — Day 22 — Mrs Claus' Raspberry Prosecco tea bag
It’s the final of Bluebird’s ghosts and another Christmas Future — Mrs Claus' Raspberry Prosecco.
Ingredients: First Flush Darjeeling black tea, apple pieces,
rosehip, hibiscus, Siberian ginseng, freeze-dried raspberry, orange peel,
natural flavouring.
They describe it thus:
First Flush
Darjeeling, the champagne of black teas, and real raspberry chunks; this light
+ classy fruity flute is perfect for toasting special occasions (or just after
a long day out on the sleigh!). It is a not-so-secret that all would grind to a
halt at Christmas time without the help of the fabulous Mrs Claus so she sure
deserves this tea treat!
I was expecting to really like this as I have tried and
enjoyed several raspberry-flavoured teas (Adagio’s Veritaserum from the Magic Potions sampler is one of my favourites, as is the Blue Raspberry from Bluebird)
and raspberries are one of my favourite fruits so I’m willing to try just about
anything they appear in.
Unfortunately, on first taste I wasn’t particularly enamoured.
Now, to be fair, I was on the phone to my mother and so I left it quite a long
time (well over 10 minutes) but that was a good thing as the flavour wasn’t all
that strong, even after the long steeping.
I needed to add sugar to bring out the sweetness but was
unable to detect anything resembling prosecco in the flavour — the raspberry overwhelmed
all other flavours for me — but that might have been because of the long brewing
time. This wasn’t a problem, obviously, as I love raspberry, but it wasn’t
special enough to make me eager to try it again.
Because I was on the phone I didn’t add any milk, which I think
might make a difference (I feel it improves both the other raspberry teas
mentioned) and once my 5 ghosts arrives (when I can be bothered to pick it up
from the Post Office) I will definitely try it again with milk.
Definitely not my favourite of the 5 ghosts, but it’s a
drinkable cup that’s worth trying if you like raspberry.
UPDATES
I have finally managed to review the Mince Pie tea, and Olivia
has kindly done the honours on Jack Frost, so check them out if you feel the
urge.
Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. have sent me a £5 off
voucher which expires on Christmas Day. They are such teases as they know I can’t
resist their teas, but now is not the time to be stocking up, especially when I
bought so much Milk Oolong from them during Black Friday, and when I still have
so much tea to try and review. However, there is still 3 days to go before Christmas and my
resolve is never very strong where tea is concerned.
